... NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island ?

Several years ago I was reading some old paper work I had received when mustering out of the Navy. My NAVPERS 601-5, “History Of Assignments” had a strange entry which read: “15 Sept. 62: Above entries derived from sources other than current service record.” I didn’t know what this meant and wouldn’t have thought much about it except, I was missing a duty station.

Technically, the record was wrong. I had transferred from VA(AW)-33 to ZP-3, but it listed the transfer from Atlantic City, NJ. to Lakehurst, NJ. When in fact, the transfer was between NAS Quonset Point, RI. and Lakehurst, NJ. The squadron had just moved to NAS Quonset Point and I had received orders to ZP-3 almost immediately after completing the move.

This sent me on a mission. My memory was loosing some of its acuity for details so, I decided to chronicle the events, as I remembered them, of the twenty years I spent in the US Navy. Several short stories have evolved. They have been printed here for your enjoyment. Enjoy!
